Festival of the drifting dreams

Festival of the Drifting Dreams

Festival of drifting dreams map

Since there are a lot of new players, or simply some who have never gotten to see this event before, i'm going to make a little tutorial on it.

There are multiple type of events:
Gambling -
Traveler's Gambit
Festival gambit traveler
1st - 100 PC / 2-5th - 25 PC / 6-25th - 100 tokens.
The more gold you spend for this event, the more chances you have of wining. keep in mind that most players invest a LOT of it. (in the order of billions or more)
Runs every 6 hours and costs gold to enter. Every 1,000 gold counts as an entry.
Dreamer's Gambit
Festival gambit dreamer
1'st - Exalted hero chest - 250 PC - all armor tokens
2nd - 5th - all armor tokens
6th - 25th - 500 tickets
Dreamer's Gambit - Runs every 8 hours and costs Festival Tickets to enter. Every 1 Festival Ticket counts as an entry.
Dragon Gambit :
Festival gambit dragon
1'st - Exalted hero chest - 2000 PC - all armor tokens
2nd - Exalted hero chest - 250 PC
6th - 25th - 100 PC
Dragon's Gambit - Runs only once throughout the entire Festival. Entering into the Dreamer's Gambit automatically enters you into the Dragon's Gambit.
Fortune teller:
Fortune teller
Avoid using this one. it gives minor buff (1000 dmg, 10% dmg, and so on) they are temporary and not worth the price.
Magic Vortex:
Fodd magic vortex
This part is the equivalent of a mystery pack. The rewards are random and somewhat unknown. They may be new essence raids, buff potions, or even tokens.
Training dummies:
Festival training dummy
Here you can test your might against Training Dummies for prizes.
Training Dummy progression does not carry over into the next time the Festival comes to town. Once you defeat a rank of Training Dummy you cannot fight it again until the next next time the Festival comes to town. Each Training Dummy has its own prizes and loot you may acquire, except for Rank 21. Rank 21 does not have any prizes associated with it and is only to test your might in a timed environment. Your prowess will be displayed within the Training Dummy leaderboards.
You do not spend your Energy, Honor or Stamina to fight a Training Dummy. You instead spend "Hits" which will regenerate 1 Hit every 2 hours.
You may purchase additional Hits in exchange for Festival Tickets. Remember, Hits will only regenerate up to a max of 5, so if you have more they will not regenerate until you drop below 5.
Each Hit is equivalent to a 20x hit on a raid. Hits do NOT carry over into the next time the Festival comes to town
What to do:
Most of the dummies have a type, so pay attention to that. If it's aquatic, use aquatic sets/legions (or whatever type it is)
Use blue manticore mount. When it procs, the next hit is a guaranteed critical hit. Since hitting dummies is so expensive, try and only get the crits in.
The rewards are better at higher levels, but they also take a lot of effort.
When going after higher level dummies, make sure to only summon them when you have 5 tickets! If you do it when you have one ticket, you can only hit them a max of 13 times for free (12x2h=24h + the one you started with). If you start with 5 tickets , you'll get 17 total free hits. You chose when the dummy goes up, so make sure you have enough time to use the tickets wisely.
Jousting grounds:
Festival joust
This is basically a rock-paper-scissor game. You have 3 choices to hit (shield, head or torso). One will be correct, one will be a draw, and one will be fail.
The top reward is at 10 successful knights. If you win, you get all the rewards up to that point. if you fail, you get nothing.
Note: Those with high perception may see the perc sign over a choice. This is somewhat arbitrary. You can still loose while clicking on it. it does not work, or was not intended to be 100% accurate.
Catapult game:
Festival catapult game
Attempt to launch a boulder into cauldrons against the wind. Each cauldron offers between 10 and 25 points.
  • Purchase different numbers of shots using Festival Tickets.
  • Score points by landing your Catapult Boulder into various cauldrons (if you miss a Cauldron entirely you still earn points)
  • Adjust your Power and Angle based on the ever changing wind variance! Wind variance changes per Catapult session.
  • A Catapult "Session" is when you use your purchased shots of (5, 10, 20). So a new, randomized layout won’t appear until you run out of shots and then purchase a new set.
  • Each Catapult session has randomization factors.

Taken from the forums:
power-angle-wind
70-30 - strong headwind
64-30 - headwind
60-30 - weak headwind
56-30 - breeze
52-30 - weak tailwind
48-30 - tailwind
44-30 - strong tailwind

You will likely need to add or subtract a specific value to the power listed based on where the 25 zone is on your layout. On the round that I got the essence from, I had one ranging shot to start, then subtracted 13 from the power listed on each subsequent shot and had 8 of 9 go into the 25 zone.

Your mileage may vary, and you definitely need a favorable layout, but hopefully the above will be of some help.

You get tickets daily, or you can buy them via PC.
Note: you can win tickets with gambits, or they will drop from Cedric ER. Until now, there has always been a Cedric ER summoned (x2) with every festival
If you think you can not do enough damage to the dummies, or don't have enough tickets for what you're after. Save your tickets for the next time the festival comes around. It usually spawns twice or three times a year. and tickets DO carry over. Some sacrifice one episode of the event, to make sure they have enough tickets for the next one.
